Dear Heritage Patriot Families,
As we move into the second half of the school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the hard work of our students and teachers. We have just completed our Middle-of-the-Year (MOY) testing, and teachers have been meeting with students to review their progress and set goals for the remainder of the year. This data is essential in helping us tailor instruction to meet each student’s learning needs. One area we are especially proud to highlight is our IREADY Math growth—Heritage Elementary led the district in MOY growth!
The month began with a teacher in-service day, where our staff participated in professional learning focused on the IREADY Math program. Teachers explored various ways to analyze student data and use it to drive instruction that supports every learner. Their dedication to using data-driven strategies ensures that students continue to make meaningful progress.
As always, the second semester is filled with exciting events. Spring pictures, PTO meetings, fieldtrips, and end-of-year testing are just a few of the upcoming activities. One of the most anticipated events is our annual talent show, “Heritage’s Got Talent,” on March 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the high school auditorium. We look forward to seeing our students showcase their incredible talents!
I also encourage all parents to review the section in February edition of the Patriot Post which explains the new IREAD-3 requirements recently passed by the Indiana State Legislature. This section includes valuable information about how these changes may impact students, along with tips for supporting reading development at home.
Thank you for your continued support and for entrusting us with your child’s education. We are excited for all that the second semester has in store!
-Mr. Walter, Principal
